Abstract
This paper presents the results of a qualitative study focused on media life stories. The main aim of this piece of research is to explore how three generations socialize with the media in the city of Barcelona, Spain. Firstly, we analyze how the respondents construct and project their narrative identity. Secondly, we discuss the impact of media representations in their favourite media topics. Thirdly, we explore what are the processes of identification regarding media characters. Fourthly, forms of socialization and interaction proposed by respondents regarding the media are investigated. This article validates the idea that identity is a narrative and communicative construction that is largely determined by cultural and media products.
